Daylight Saving Time Guide for Novell GroupWise Novell
Setting Up a Search Folder To Locate Affected Calendar Items
This guide will help users transition to the new Daylight Saving Time rules in the Windows
client for Novell GroupWise. There are potential calendar issues in any email system caused by the recent passage of the U.S. Energy Policy Act of 2005, which extends Daylight Saving Time in the U.S. and Canada by three weeks. Through a series of screen shots and text, this
guide shows users how to create a Search Folder in GroupWise to identify appointments that may be affected by the DST changes and that may require rescheduling. The search folder will query a user's mailbox for appointments that between the impacted, four extra weeks of Daylight Savings Time. Once users have performed the search, they can resend the appointments selectively on an as-needed, case-by-case basis. Note: These rules are only valid for Windows-based GroupWise clients.
- In the Windows client select File > New > Folder.
- In the following dialog, make sure to select "Find results folder" and leave "Custom find results folder" selected.
- Name the folder and select where it will be stored.
- Click Next.

In the search criteria dialog, select Advanced Find. The Advanced Find allows the user to specify as many criteria as necessary.
The first criteria in the search needs to be the date ranges to search on, one set for the beginning of the new DST period and another for the end. The search ranges need to be the difference between Daylight Savings with the new rules and what it was with the old rules.
- Select "On or After Date" for the beginning date and "On or Before Date" for the end date.

- At the end of each date range definition, select "New Group" and separate the ranges with an "OR". As a reminder, search from the second Sunday in March to the first Sunday in April, and the last Sunday in October to the first Sunday in November.
- After the last date range criteria set, select "New Group" and separate the next group with an "AND".
- If it is known when the Microsoft Daylight Savings Time update was installed on the workstation then specify ?Created On or Before Date? and enter the date of the install.
This will only be 100% effective if this is the only workstation that has been used to send appointments, or all workstations have been patched at the same time.
- If multiple workstations have been used to send appointments for this account, then specify the patch date of the LAST workstation that was updated. Make sure to search for Appointments only.
- Select ?New Group? and separate the next group with an ?AND?
